Cascading Style Sheets

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are a simple mechanism for adding style (e.g. fonts, colors, spacing) to Web documents. These are the W3C's official pages.

Cascading Style Sheets, level 2

This specification defines Cascading Style Sheets, level 2 (CSS2). CSS2 is a style sheet language that allows authors and users to attach style (e.g., fonts, spacing, and aural cues) to structured documents (e.g., HTML documents and XML applications)

CSS2 Specification: W3C Recommendation 12-May-1998

CSS2 builds on CSS1 (see [CSS1]) and, with very few exceptions, all valid CSS1 style sheets are valid CSS2 style sheets. CSS2 supports media-specific style sheets so that authors may tailor the presentation of their documents to visual browsers . .

Training Support Materials PDF Print E-mail

Training Support materials

Sometimes operating fluidly from one culture to into another is difficult. In this business however it is essential. For that reason we've compiled an essential list of materials. There are very good reasons for the particular balance chosen. We hope that the team will really enjoy them.

Rest assured if we start selling into India we'll be creating a similar list for our UK staff to study Indian culture during their training time.

Prospects Wanting World Class Results at Third World Prices PDF Print E-mail
Sometimes prospects try to shop for mission critical parts of their business on price and try to compare prices for our highly guided, skilled and trained people with low price sweatshop workers. These clients often want work world class results at third work prices.

Remember our people are offshore, not outsourced. The difference is that work that we do is not commoditized.

Here is what we say

I suppose the first thing to test is whether the rivals have got clients to the top of Google and built other peoples businesses from nothing to thousands of pounds a day? If you haven't asked them you'll need to, because the success of your company depends on it. If they haven't then you may have saved a little now at the expense of your business not getting off the ground. Also there is a tendency for the inexperienced to go for the cheapest solution only to find that it does not offer a sustainable level of service - it may be gone next month or next year when you need crucial  help or when your site disappears without a trace a some important time.
The odds are very much against a new company, but we've never had a client who we have done AdWords for fail. We've never heard of a business that has gone elsewhere for something cheaper succeed either. The small amount that we told you about how this works is just the tip of the iceberg and we found that when we gave regular seminars on it the audience was full of web companies.

As for price - it's a little like finding high quality imported chromium vanadium steel is marginally more expensive than inferior quality low grade mild steel. In a market where performance is likely to make all the difference it's an important distinction.

The cost benefits that you do get are that you are getting a level of detailed technical knowledge and experience that would cost approximately two to three times more for a similar outcome if we were to do the site and search engine work entirely in the UK. We hand pick more skilled, talented staff and develop them over a period of years. Those that do leave to work in the 'west' get two to three times the salary of most UK web company staff. Basically our staff are better. For example one project leader led Microsoft's ISO 9002 roll out for the state prior to working with us. So you are paying for a Sukhoi Su-37 not a Lada!

Generic outsourcing with the big brand names (and we have hands-on experience in this) involves huge numbers of paper-qualified but inflexible low wage workers working under frankly poor conditions with little idea of your business's goals or expectations. In contrast many of our people work with us for years. Many have worked in the UK, Germany and the US. They  typically work in air conditioned offices, have the latest equipment and have ongoing training. We spend thousands of pounds a year visiting and making sure that they do things exactly the way our customers expect, to get the best business outcome for customers. This last part is critical and distinguishes us from most 'outsourced' operations - even our excellent people need to be brought up to speed over many months on meeting our exacting standards and being shown special skills like SEO and best use of AdWords.

When we spoke initially I understood that it was critical for potential customers searching on Google to find and contact you, so would you like to have a quick chat today? You need to get over a certain threshold to succeed and it's important to consider what you will loose if your chosen supplier doesn't manage it (not just the money spent and business lost, but also the other investment in your business during that time), and whether you will be able to afford to come back to have it done successfully if it doesn't work the first time.

The price comparison here is that there are only two other companies who offer the same Google service as we do - we trained with them one-on-one - they are Perry Marshall Associates who charge $750 per hour (and currently won't take on projects with a fee less than $1M) and Bryan Todd, also in the US who charges $375 per hour for the same work that we are charging you a fraction of that for. We know that the quality is the same because we've paid Bryan (who is a very clever guy) to spend two hours going over campaigns that we have set up and he was unable to suggest any significant improvements (and none that improved campaign performance when we tested them together).
